Much like Storm Claudia tore through the northwest the previous evening, the home side blew United aside at the Etihad. It was a emphatic three-nil win for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their title credentials as they strengthened their standing at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Defeats for United

This result represented consecutive league setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, leaving them seven points off the league leaders with their title hopes in serious doubt.

The home side, on the other hand, could have added to their lead when a superb Vivianne Miedema long ball sent Bunny Shaw away only for her to fluff her lines but it mattered little to the winning team. Having failed to beat any opponent who ended above them last season, Jeglertz’s side now have wins against the Gunners and Manchester United to put them in a favorable standing after nine games.
