In the dying moments, unbridled joy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and gifted the stand-in Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the recollection of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, stood a one-time trainer at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
